EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique, otherwise known as EFT, is an alternative therapeutic treatment with roots in both cognitive and exposure therapies. EFT works by addressing a negative emotion, pairing it with positive affirmation statements while tapping “acupoints” located throughout our bodies. This unique technique draws on acupuncture theory, which teaches that energy flows through our bodies through meridians. When passages become blocked, individuals may have difficultly processing trauma, negative emotions, or physical illness within the body. By using our fingertips to tap on specific meridians, individuals are able to reframe distressing feelings.

EFT is an appropriate treatment for those that have experience trauma, phobias, physical illness, anxiety, depression, cravings, and addictions. This unique technique works with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Individuals who utilize the Emotional Freedom Technique report decreased anxiety and stress, contributing to feelings of wellbeing. EFT is a scientifically support method which incorporates body-based awareness of emotional sensations.
