What is Rapid Resolution Therapy®?
Rapid Resolution Therapy®️ (RRT) is an innovative psychotherapy approach developed by Dr. Jon Connelly, PhD. It aims to quickly and painlessly address mental health and life challenges, often within 1-3 sessions. RRT combines psychological, philosophical, and emerging neuroscience concepts with evidence-based therapeutic techniques, leading to successful outcomes for individuals with various mental health and emotional issues. By utilizing precise communication techniques, mindfulness, meditation, and visualization, RRT reroutes neural pathways associated with traumatic memories or limiting beliefs, targeting both the conscious and subconscious mind for lasting results. Ongoing academic studies are being conducted to further explore RRT’s effectiveness.
Is RRT the right treatment for me?
RRT is not limited to treating PTSD, survivors of sexual violence, or trauma; it can also be effective for a wide range of emotional and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief, insomnia, guilt, shame, addiction/relapse prevention, phobias, compulsive habits, and pain management. Unlike traditional talk therapy or cognitive-based therapies like CBT or IFS, RRT addresses both the conscious and subconscious mind, identifying the root cause of unwanted thoughts, feelings, or behaviors and resolving them in a gentle and respectful manner, without extensively revisiting trauma. The therapy keeps the patient present and uplifted throughout the process.
What happens in an RRT session?
An RRT session is active, integrative, and non-threatening. Although the therapist does most of the talking, it is designed to be engaging and even enjoyable. The therapist artfully guides the session to prepare the subconscious mind for adopting new ways of thinking and understanding, which can shift how the mind processes information. The session typically involves clarifying the present-day problem, introducing a fresh perspective on how the mind works, setting a clear intention for the desired outcome, utilizing imagery, multi-level communication, and guided meditation techniques to prime the subconscious mind, and employing unique “ghostbusting” techniques to rewire painful memories or distorted thinking.
A typical first RRT intensive session lasts around two-plus hours, during which most people experience a noticeable shift. However, RRT concepts can also be incorporated into longer-term counseling relationships.
