During trauma, our biological “fight or flight” response is triggered. Biologically, both animals and humans are equipped to regulate this response. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) helps relieve the energy used in this response. However, other factors may interfere with an individual’s biological attempts to regulate their system.
During Somatic Experiencing®, a trained psychotherapist will help you identify triggers within your body, paying attention to how your body reacts.
