Dr. Nicolette Sacket

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Nicolette Sacket earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Florida, where she specialized in child psychology and minored in social work and Spanish. She then achieved her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Through years of working in trauma-focused clinics, Dr. Sacket discovered her passion for trauma therapy and helping survivors heal and regain their sense of self.

Dr. Sacket has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages in various settings, including hospitals, therapeutic group homes, community mental health centers, and private practice. During her doctoral training, she worked at two trauma-focused clinics and wrote her dissertation on the use of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for adults with prolonged childhood trauma. She is passionate about incorporating yoga and mindfulness into treatment, particularly in helping individuals who have experienced trauma to reconnect with their authentic selves with compassion and joy.

Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Sacket understands that healing is not about being “more disciplined,” “less sensitive,” or “better at coping.” Instead, her approach provides support that deeply understands the nervous system, personal history, and the patterns that often keep individuals trapped in anxiety, avoidance, or self-criticism.

Dr. Sacket works with adults and families navigating complex challenges including trauma, anxiety, disordered eating, body image struggles, interpersonal difficulties, and major life transitions. She recognizes that many of her clients are high-functioning, insightful individuals who are exhausted from maintaining a composed exterior while feeling overwhelmed or disconnected internally.

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Sacket’s clinical practice spans a wide range of psychological challenges. She specializes in supporting teens and adults experiencing trauma and complex trauma, addressing anxiety and depression, working through eating disorders, processing grief, navigating interpersonal difficulties, exploring identity issues, building self-worth, and managing major life transitions. Her comprehensive approach extends to providing group therapy for adults and conducting detailed assessment batteries, ensuring a holistic understanding of each client’s unique psychological landscape.

Therapeutic Philosophy

Dr. Sacket takes a humanistic and holistic approach to therapy, striving to understand the whole person and meet clients with unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and a nonjudgmental stance. She customizes her therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs of each client, drawing from modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and contextual trauma therapy.

Her approach is trauma-informed, relational, and somatic. Rather than simply discussing what’s wrong, Dr. Sacket works with the body, nervous system, and deeper emotional patterns driving symptoms. She integrates evidence-based practices such as dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and attachment-focused therapy to help clients feel safer in their bodies, more grounded in their emotions, and more confident in their relationships.

In her sessions, the focus is on “being” rather than “doing,” emphasizing the here and now, slowing down to notice the body and internal signals, and working relationally. Clients often feel seen, understood, and gently challenged in their work together. Therapy with Dr. Sacket is collaborative, warm, and honest;  a space where clients don’t have to perform or explain themselves away.
